Day 2 - The Valley of the Ancient Mills Walk

Walking - easy to moderate 4-5 hours.

Today you commence a steady gradual ascent along the Valley of the Ancient Mills towards the much celebrated village of Ravello. The Italians say "Ravello, che bello!". You move through the vibrant streets of the historic centre before proceeding into a green belt, walking along a river and passing the ruins of several abandoned mills. The pathway climbs out of the valley and gradually takes you through lemon groves and narrow valleys surrounded by dry stone walls, onto the hilltop village of Pontone. The views of Amalfi and Atrani from the ruins of Torre dello Zirro are dramatic - to say the least! Stairs then lead down into the gorgeous village of Ravello. A visit to the magnificent villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo is mandatory. Your return to Amalfi will follow ancient stairways down to Atrani and a maze of white washed alleys.

Day 3 - The Ferriere Valley

Walking - easy to moderate 4.5 hours

Today we explore the Ferriere valley. It is an interesting nature reserve in the rugged landscape of the Lattari Mountains. A local bus brings you there to our starting point. You walk through striking vertical cliffs, little waterfalls and natural springs. The microclimate has preserved Woodwardia radicans, a rare type of long-leafed fern from the pre-glacial age. Continuing through the chestnut trees in the valley you reach the hamlet (borgo) of Pogerola and then down along the ancient steps back to our home village of Amalfi.

Day 4 - Mt. Tre Calli hike & 1st section of the path of the Gods

Walking - easy to moderate minimum 2.5 hours, maximum 6.5 hours

Today you catch a local bus to Bomerano and from there you can choose between 2 options depending on your level of fitness or your mood. The longer option includes the Tre Calli hike and the 1st section of the famous Path of the Gods. The shorter option is only the section from Bomerano to Praiano walking along the path of the Gods. The Tre Calli hike is an absolute highlight. There are superlative views from ancient paths cut into the mountainside. The longer option takes you towards the highest massif of the Amalfi Coast, Sant'Angelo a Tre Pizzi. The coastal views are simply out of this world! Further along, walk around Mt Tre Calli and you are rewarded with even more superlative views to Positano and even Capri. The walk ends in the piazza of Bomerano from where you start the second part of the walk, including the 1st section of the famous Path of the Gods. The views from Bomerano to Colle Serra are amazing too. The stairs then go down to our next destination - Praiano.

Day 5 - Valley of Praia or Pompeii

Walking - easy to moderate 3 hours

Depending on your mood, today you can opt to relax in Praiano or take a local bus to Sorrento and then a train to Pompeii. Pompeii offers an insight into the ancient Roman world with its extraordinary ruins and intact streets which allow you to re-imagine how life must once have been in Roman times. If you'd like to go for another walk around Praia, there is a lovely walk along the valley which ends at Furore with its dramatic rocky houses. From Furore it's an easy bus ride to our base in Praiano.

Day 6 - The Path of the Gods

Walking - easy to moderate 4.5 hours

Today's walk takes us along one of the most spectacular trails overlooking the Amalfi Coast. From Praiano you reach the convent of San Domenico, a stunning viewpoint leading towards the most picturesque part of this famous walk of the Gods. You will reach the tiny village of Nocelle, then descend through lush terraces and olive groves to the vertical, exclusive resort of Positano. Positano will enchant you with its labyrinth alleyways peppered with bougainvillea and elegant boutiques. We overnight here.

Day 7 - Capri highlights

Walking - easy to moderate minimum 3.5 hours

Today we visit the world renowned island of Capri - once the resort of Roman Emperors! The ferry leaves Positano or Sorrento in the morning. Once we are on the island, you walk towards the Arco Naturale and follow a coastal path to reach the spectacular Faraglioni - the extraordinary rocks jutting out of the sea. Over the course of the day you have the option of relaxing in Capri with its exclusive boutiques, or being more adventurous and visiting the Convent of San Giacomo dating back to the 14th century. Either way, we head back to Positano on the spectacular ferry trip.
